I am a PhD student at Oxford Brookes University, looking at the experience of and engagement with planning for the future in people with Parkinson’s disease, those important to them, and healthcare teams who support them. The aim of my research is to inform approaches to future planning conversations, improving its relevance and accessibility for people with Parkinson’s disease.
To ensure the outcomes of this research are relevant to all communities, I am looking for PPI involvement from diverse participant communities and particularly minority ethnic groups as people from these communities are currently underrepresented in my research.
I would like to invite participants from minority ethnic backgrounds who are interested in this topic to take part in a focus group. The aims of this focus group are to consider acceptability and relevance of the research question (future planning) to minority ethnic groups and consider how the research project might approach recruitment within these communities.
I am seeking 2 to 4 participants to take part in the focus group discussion.
Reimbursement
Participants will be remunerated £30 for their participation in the one-hour meeting.
Date required
Expression of interest is needed by 3 August 2023, but the focus group will be at a later date to be confirmed.
