In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the need for more large-scale, blood-based (‘biobank’) studies in non-European populations, to understand the lifestyle, environmental and genetic risk factors for cause-specific mortality and morbidity in diverse populations.

This talk will focus on aspects of developing such studies in low-resource settings and give some preliminary findings.

This is the first in a series of ‘masterclass’ talks organised by the Oxford BRC Cardiovascular Medicine Theme.
