Introduction to Medical Research: Essential Skills (Module 2)

Our ‘Introduction to Medical Research: Essential Skills’ course provides an overview of key steps and common methods in medical research and its publication.
The course is provided by OUCAGS in collaboration with the EQUATOR Network, an expert provider in health research education. It is available free of charge, and each module is certificated. The whole course is certificated if all four modules are completed.
The course is divided into four modules which run over four Saturday mornings at the John Radcliffe Hospital:
MODULE 2 Saturday 19th October 2019, 9am – 1pm
– Research design and protocols introduces the main types of study design and the skills required to critically appraise a research study, and explores the practicalities of writing a protocol
MODULE 3 Saturday 16th November 2019, 9am – 1pm
– Statistical thinking introduces the basics of medical statistics, such as understanding sampling, and making inferences from samples to populations
MODULE 4 Saturday 7th December 2019, 9am – 1pm
– Research publication and dissemination covers the process of getting your research published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at conferences
