Constituent Research Institutes

The Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology

The Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology is a world-leading medical research centre where discovery research drives development of transformative therapies for chronic inflammatory and degenerative diseases. The Institute provides access to outstanding core facilities for immune phenotyping and molecular pathway analysis including flow and mass cytometry as well as a Genomics High Performance Compute Facility. Investigators at the Institute bring expertise in inflammation biology, computational biology and statistical genetics. Read more

The Translational Gastroenterology Unit

The Translational Gastroenterology Unit brings together scientists, clinician-scientists and gastroenterologists with the objective of translating fundamental research in mucosal immunology into enhanced treatments for inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and cancer. Research at the Unit spans analysis of model systems through to the study of carefully characterised patient cohorts. The Unit has outstanding facilities for clinical research including a dedicated Clinical Trials Facility and research endoscopy. It currently runs numerous interventional clinical trials in IBD and inflammatory liver disease. Read more

The MRC-Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM)

The MRC-WIMM undertakes internationally competitive research in molecular and cellular biology and examines how these processes are perturbed in inherited and acquired human disease. The Institute combines outstanding clinical research with excellent basic science for example, in the MRC Human Immunology Unit. Its Faculty includes an equal mix of scientists and clinicians, and extensive partnerships with the Oxford University Hospitals and commercial companies facilitate its research to improve diagnosis and disease.
