Anonymised data | We work out which pieces of information belong to which person using a random number, rather than using personal information like patient names, addresses, or birthdates. |
Data linkage | Joining pieces of information about one person that are held in different systems together in one place. For example, information about the results of a blood test, and information about times they came into hospital. |
Electronic Health Records (EHR) | When people come to hospital or have blood tests taken at their GP, information is stored in large NHS databases. We call this information “electronic health records.” |
Infections in Oxfordshire Research Database (IORD) | IORD is a collection of electronic health records from people coming to the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for an appointment, scan or blood test, or been in hospital there, or had blood taken at your GP and tested at the hospital |
