WATCH: New approaches to heart disease

22 April 2013 · Listed under Other News

In the latest Oxford Biomedical Research Centre  public talk,  consultant cardiologist Prof Robin Choudhury describes the  research undertaken in Oxford and how it  might influence future care.

Treatment of heart disease has improved markedly over the past decades. It has become clear that further understanding of the processes that drive heart disease are important if we are to develop even better treatments.

In Oxford we have developed studies that use state of the art techniques to assess heart patients, and using this information we aim to identify new approaches to treating heart disease.

In this talk, consultant cardiologist Prof Robin Choudhury describes the areas of study that are currently being undertaken in Oxford, and how the £13m Acute Vascular Imaging Centre is helping increase our understanding of heart attack and stroke.
Prof Robin Choudhury is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science, Clinical Director of Oxford Acute Vascular Imaging Centre and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist.
