The first Leadership Workshop for senior investigators and partners has been held by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.

More than 35 senior investigators funded by the BRC and partner organisations such as Isis Innovation Limited and the Oxford Academic Health Science Network attended the event at St Catherine’s College, Oxford on Monday, October 26.

Sue Dopson, Rhodes Trust Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Associate Dean of Faculty at Saïd Business School, led the event.

It covered topics including leadership styles, challenges, development and change through presentations and group activities as part of the BRC’s commitment to talent management.

Those who attended the Leadership Workshop said they found the event very useful.

Prof Graham Ogg, Professor of Dermatology at Oxford’s Churchill Hospital said: “It was fantastic to have the opportunity to understand strategies for leadership and change.

“I look forward to implementing some aspects and learning more.”

Gillian Morris, assistant registrar (human resources) at the University of Oxford’s Medical Sciences Division, said: “It was an informative and concise workshop that provided a lot of food for thought.”

Jo Wilson, Clinical Research Manager for the OxVALVE Study into valvular heart disease, said: “It was really useful. I thought Sue was a great choice of speaker and the interactive group work was useful. It is definitely worth running this session again.”
