The NIHR BRC: Oxford and ARC: Thames Valley are delighted to launch a new Mentoring Pilot Scheme which supports researchers by fostering career development, leadership capability, confidence and cross‑infrastructure connection.

This one‑year mentorship programme is designed for early and mid-career researchers , including final‑year DPhil & PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, offering tailored guidance from experienced mentors.

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a voluntary, supportive partnership where a mentor offers time, experience and independent guidance to help you navigate challenges, gain clarity and progress in your career.

Programme features

  • Pilot cohort of five to 10 early and mid-career researchers
  • Up to one year of mentoring support
  • Carefully matched mentor–mentee pairs
  • Guidance on establishing aims, maintaining contact and progressing the partnership

Eligibility

  • Open to all early-mid career researchers who are aligned to one of the 15 BRC Oxford themes or the ARC; they must be in their final year DPhil or PhD, or Postdoc.

Ready to grow your career? Join a supportive, structured mentoring community designed to help you thrive as a researcher. Mentors and mentees will agree the frequency, number and duration of their meetings, with a minimum commitment of six hours of mentoring over the year.
