Empowering Early and Mid Career Researchers

The NIHR BRC: Oxford and ARC, Oxford and Thames Valley are delighted to launch a new Mentoring Pilot Scheme which supports researchers by fostering career development, leadership capability, confidence and cross‑infrastructure connection.

This one‑year mentorship programme is designed for early and mid career researchers, including final‑year DPhil & PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, offering tailored guidance from experienced mentors.

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is a voluntary, supportive partnership where a mentor offers time, experience and independent guidance to help you navigate challenges, gain clarity and progress in your career.

Programme Features

  • Pilot cohort of 5–10 EMCRs
  • Up to one year of mentoring support
  • Carefully matched mentor–mentee pairs
  • Guidance on establishing aims, maintaining contact and progressing the partnership

Eligibility

  • Open to all early-mid career researchers who is aligned to one of our 15 Themes or the ARC; must be in their final year DPhil or PhD or Postdoc.

Ready to Grow Your Career? Join a supportive, structured mentoring community designed to help you thrive as a researcher. Mentors and mentees will agree the frequency, number and duration of their meetings, with a minimum commitment of 6 hours of mentoring over the year.
