Sub-theme leads: Fiona Powrie and Alison Simmons
A major aim of this sub-theme is to develop approaches to integrate patient clinical data with experimental datasets obtained from sub-theme 1. We have established a multi-parameter database linking clinical, biochemistry, haematology and immune phenotyping datasets with deep genotyping within the Oxford IBD cohort. Through application of sophisticated algorithms we have identified genetic associations with specific biological and clinical outcomes. In collaboration with the BRC Technology and Digital Health and cross-cutting Clinical Informatics themes, we are now scaling up this approach to incorporate additional longitudinal clinical data, as well as information from different types of inflammatory disease. In collaboration with the Structural Genomics Consortium and Target Discovery Institute we are also screening existing and new compounds for their ability to correct defective pathways and validating potential improved biomarkers.
