NIHR–British Heart Foundation Cardiovascular Partnership

This Partnership provides a platform for the development of large-scale collaborations between researchers funded by NIHR and the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The goal of this initiative is to catalyse progress in cardiovascular research and translate scientific discoveries into benefits for people affected by heart and circulatory diseases.

The NIHR-BHF Cardiovascular Partnership is chaired by Keith Channon and managed by Cecilia Poli from Oxford BRC. The Partnership Chair and Manager work with the Partnership’s oversight group, composed of Cardiovascular Theme Leads from 8 NIHR Biomedical Research Centres (BRC) and representatives from 9 NIHR Clinical Research Facilities (CRF) to develop the Partnership’s activities. The Partnership also includes BHF Chairs, BHF Professors, BHF Fellows as well as researchers from 6 BHF Centres of Research Excellence and 6 BHF Accelerators. Further organisational details are provided on the NIHR website.

The map below illustrates the co-location of NIHR and BHF research centres from which the NIHR-BHF Cardiovascular Partnership mobilises infrastructure and expertise.
