Patient and Public Involvement

You are here: Home > Our Work with Patients and the Public > Get Involved

Get Involved

To get involved in research across the Thames Valley, including the BRC, register on the Patients Active in Research website. This could include taking part in focus groups, reviewing summaries of research for the public, helping to prepare information for patients or taking part in studies and you will receive regular updates as new opportunities arise.

Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is carried out within our PPI working group, guided by the Patients Active in Research Group (PAIR), which includes researchers, medical staff, patients and carers, and with a lay co-chair alongside a researcher.

The main aim of PAIR is to bring the patient/public voice to the overarching strategy of the NIHR Oxford BRC, and in turn help to support themes in their patient involvement work. The NIHR Oxford BRC sits in an increasingly complex web of other research and PPI activity and we work closely with, for example, the Oxford Academic Health Science Network, which brings together universities, industry and the NHS to improve health and prosperity in our region through rapid clinical innovation adoption.

The PAIR group is currently full, but we are always interested to hear from patients who would like to get involved as advisers or in PPI to help the specific research themes. Please register your interest via the form linked at the top of this page.
