We are looking for volunteers aged 18-55 who are experiencing low mood and/or loss of interest/motivation to take part in a study investigating the effects of 4-week ingestion of a probiotic or placebo on the processing of emotions.
First of all, we ask potential participants to fill in an online questionnaire. Those who score within particular ranges will receive a brief phone call and will be invited to a screening session. If you are deemed eligible to take part, you will then be invited to 2 additional study visits (~3.5h in total) and will be randomly allocated to a 4-week treatment with a probiotic or placebo. In addition to taking the supplement, the study will involve using a device (watch) to measure sleep, providing saliva and blood samples, completing some questionnaires and performing computer based tasks involving the presentation of emotional and non-emotional stimuli.
All sessions will be held at the Warneford Hospital. Time and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed on production of receipts.
If you are interested and would like more information, please contact email@example.com.
