SUMMARY:Equator Network Short Training Session: Writing a journal abstract
DESCRIPTION:This training is led by Patricia Logullo. \nAn article abstract needs to be an accurate well-structured summary and entice your readers to read further. As many readers only have access to the abstract\, and it is often used by journal editors and scientific committees to decide whether to send the article for peer review\, you need to get it spot on. We also talk about selecting key words to complement the language in your abstract and maximise the chance of readers finding your abstract. \nFor more details and to book\, follow this link.

SUMMARY:Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in Health and Care Research: Summer School
DESCRIPTION:Building Partnerships with Creativity and Justice: Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in health care and research \nAre you connected to Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and keen to know more and build partnerships? You are invited to join experts at Exeter University for a 3-day in-person summer school. \nAbout the course\nThe Covid-19 pandemic demonstrated the vital links between research\, communities and public engagement as the new vaccines and their rollout progressed. Unprecedented levels of media coverage included a wide spectrum of public opinion\, which ranged from scepticism and misinformation through to support and gratitude. Over half a million members of the public joined the Covid research registry and many are still taking part in trials. \nThis timely hybrid course is an opportunity to explore beyond the numbers and the rhetoric. We will examine innovative and honest ways of generating and spreading knowledge. We will also explore how to foster the uptake of this knowledge through partnerships with care sectors\, the public and communities. Partnerships that reflect creativity and justice. \nDr Kristin Liabo (PPIE Team Lead) has brought together a team with a wide range of expertise which includes members of the College of Medicine and Health and its patient and public partners. This group will deliver an informative and thought-provoking experience for researchers and others with an interest in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE). \nWho is it for?\nThis interdisciplinary course is relevant to researchers undertaking health and care research\, including PhD students\, and people in PPIE co-ordinator/facilitator roles. Linking research and practice\, it will be tailored to those who are working across different disciplines in healthcare\, social care\, and public health. \nWhat will you learn? \n\nWhy PPIE matters and how it works – and sometimes doesn’t work!\nPutting Justice at the heart of partnerships between patients\, communities\, and researchers\nThe role of creativity in PPIE and how we achieve equality in co-creation\nCapturing and measuring PPIE – ticking boxes or bringing it to life?\n\nFor more information and to book\, follow this link\, or contact Angela King. \n
