DESCRIPTION:The public are invited to a webinar to ask questions of leading specialists about the latest research into treatment and management of depression. \nProf Michael Browning and Prof Barney Dunn will take questions in an online ‘ask the expert’ event. \nThe public can ask their questions in advance or during the event about the latest research into the treatment and management of depression. \nProf Browning is Professor of Computational Psychiatry at the University of Oxford and a Consultant Psychiatrist at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. Prof Dunn is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter and co-lead of the AccEPT clinic\, an NHS-commissioned therapy service for mood disorders. \nAsking questions on behalf of the guests will be Emily Wheeler\, Director of Research Partnerships and Development at MQ Mental Health Research. MQ is an award-winning mental health research charity which invests in scientific research all around the world\, helping to create a future where mental illnesses are understood\, effectively treated and one day prevented. \nGuests must sign up in advance using this form where they can enter their question. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC)\, University of Oxford\, will be hosting NIHR Oxford BRC & Oxford Health BRC Symposium – Making the economic case to NICE for new health technologies. \n  \nDate and time \nThursday 12 October 2023\, 10:00 – 12:00 hours (UK BST) followed by buffet lunch from 12:00-13:00. \nLocation \nRichard Doll Lecture Theatre\, Richard Doll Building HERC\, Nuffield Department of Population Health\, Old Road Campus\, Headington\, OX3 7LF \nBackground \nBefore they can be adopted into the NHS\, new interventions and technologies are formally evaluated by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Cost-effectiveness is typically a key factor in NICE evaluations. Aimed primarily at early- and mid-career stage biomedical researchers\, this symposium will provide an overview of the NICE health technology assessment process\, together with economic case studies from the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)\, and the NIHR Oxford Health BRC. \nThe symposium will feature talks by leading health economists\, biomedical researchers and a recent NICE Technology Appraisal Chair.
