SUMMARY:NIHR Oxford BRC Virtual Symposium: Levelling Up
DESCRIPTION:Levelling up: Evidence-based approaches to reducing inequalities in health and access to care \nHosted by the Health Economics Research Centre. \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities and given rise to new ones. Tackling health and economic inequalities effectively in the post-pandemic United Kingdom will require policies based on solid evidence. The purpose of this symposium is to provide a multi-disciplinary forum focusing on effective ways to ‘level up’\, from what is known to evidence gaps that future research should address. The symposium will bring together perspectives on these issues from leading health economists and epidemiologists. They will present recent evidence and discuss some of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. \nSpeakers include:  \n\nProf Richard Cookson (Centre for Health Economics\, University of York)\nProf Sandra Eldridge (Professor of Biostatistics and Director of the UKCRC Registered Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry)\nProf Robert Hills (Professor of Medical Statistics\, Oxford Population Health\, University of Oxford)\nProf Philip Clarke (Director\, Health Economics Research Centre\, Oxford Population Health\, University of Oxford)\nDr Laurence Roope (Health Economics Research Centre\, Oxford Population Health\, University of Oxford)\nMs Fiorella Parra-Mujica (Health Economics Research Centre\, Oxford Population Health\, University of Oxford)\nProf Helen McShane (Director\, Oxford NIHR Biomedical Research Centre).\n\nThe symposium is free and will be held via Zoom\, but you will need to register to receive the meeting link. \n
