SUMMARY:NIHR Oxford BRC Writing Retreat
DESCRIPTION:This three-day writing retreat is sponsored by the Oxford BRC and is open to all nurses\, midwives and allied health professionals at any career stage\, working at OUH or Oxford University\, who need time and space to focus on writing without interruption. \nWe will provide a mentor to guide you with your writing\, and the workshop will be structured to include regular review and feedback slots. Attendees should commit to submitting an output from the workshop within three months and to attending all three days. \nThe retreat will take place on 16\, 17 and 18 April 2024 at Egrove Park\, Oxford OX1 5NY. The core days will run from 10.00–16.00\, but you can arrive anytime from 8.30 to start writing and stay until 18.00. Lunch and refreshments will be provided on all three days. There is plenty of parking\, the bus number 35 stops outside and it is easily cyclable from Oxford. 20 places available. \nDeadline for applications is 5 February 2024. \nApply through Microsoft forms.

In this talk\, Professor Michele Hu will explain how research has shown that people with REM sleep behaviour disorder often go on to develop Parkinson’s more than a decade later. DESCRIPTION:The public are invited to a webinar to ask questions of leading specialists about the latest research into treatment and management of depression. \nProf Michael Browning and Prof Barney Dunn will take questions in an online ‘ask the expert’ event. \nThe public can ask their questions in advance or during the event about the latest research into the treatment and management of depression. \nProf Browning is Professor of Computational Psychiatry at the University of Oxford and a Consultant Psychiatrist at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. Prof Dunn is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter and co-lead of the AccEPT clinic\, an NHS-commissioned therapy service for mood disorders. \nAsking questions on behalf of the guests will be Emily Wheeler\, Director of Research Partnerships and Development at MQ Mental Health Research. MQ is an award-winning mental health research charity which invests in scientific research all around the world\, helping to create a future where mental illnesses are understood\, effectively treated and one day prevented. \nGuests must sign up in advance using this form where they can enter their question.
