Oxford Blood Group Launch Event: film, food and debate
Wednesday 23 May @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We are delighted to invite you to a launch event for the Oxford Blood Group next month on May 23rd, 6–8.30pm, at the Ultimate Picture Palace. We will be screening a film about patient engagement, entitled People are Messy. The film was commissioned in collaboration with the Theatre of Debate, and toured the country for patient audiences with the support of the National Institute for Health Research. It tells the story of two young men with a rare inherited blood disorder.
Some comments about People are Messy:
“It was an absolute pleasure having the opportunity and privilege to watch such an emotive and powerful film such as People are Messy. It focused on matters that were important to us as individuals and as a nation and reinforced the significance of patients within healthcare and medical research.”
“Each screening had a profound effect on the audience … and is testament to how wonderful this drama is. I hope that many more people have the chance to witness a unique and powerful film very soon.”
“…a true reflection of the many emotions that patients, carers, health care professionals, family and acquaintances go through when a single member of that unit is diagnosed with a critical illness.”
There will be food and a discussion about patient involvement in research, chaired by Theatre of Debate director, Nigel Townsend.
The event is free of charge. Register here:
